RESERVED FROM LIVE SALE - Oval Italian Marble Casket

Sourced in London, this Italian marble casket / trinket box is carved from white marble with soft white and grey veining, banded in brass at the rim, the lid, and the base. The brass base band on the bottom is finished with a delicate repeating pattern, while the rim bands are smooth and polished. This piece is solid stone and unlined inside, so light flows through it beautifully! The underside carries the red and gold foil seal reading “Made in Italy” which is a classic mark of mid-century Italian export decor, when small marble and alabaster boxes like this one were carved and finished. Very good vintage condition. A remarkable piece to add a little bit of Italian history to your home!
